Canine Scent Detection Team

Why use canines to detect termites and bed bugs?  Human inspectors can’t see through walls or floors and that’s many times where pests infiltrate a structure and cause damage. Termites eat structural wood framing, the paper on drywall, and any other cellulose material. Bedbugs feed on human blood and they hide in difficult to reach places that are not in plain sight.  Our scent detection dog may not be able to see these pests either, but he sure can smell them.  A dog’s sense of smell is anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 times keener than that of a human.     Rest assured that “Bo Nose” and he helps us detect activity early so we can treat pest populations before their numbers reach infestation levels.  He is a critical part of our treatment and prevention programs.

Meet Bo

Bo is a fox terrier mix who received his formal training at the Florida K-9 Academy in Tampa Florida.  He has been part of the EnSec team for five years and is the hardest working employee on the payroll.  Bo’s favorite pastimes are playing with children, running around, and pleasing his handler, Dan.  He is kept very busy detecting bed bugs and termites for the company and he has never been known to be wrong.  He is also responsible for providing a clear bill of health to homes so they can be covered under our termite and bed bug warranties.  When Bo is not working he spends his off time with his handler and his family in Cantonment.
